When you hear of a band hailing from Minneapolis, MN, anchored by former members of well-known hardcore or metal bands, you might expect one thing. However, Desperate Acts offer a noise truly apart from any individual member's previous efforts, and often zig when you expect a zag. Their resumes would not indicate that they could create a dark, anthemic, immersive, punk-rock album that calls to mind Leatherface, Jawbreaker, and Hot Water Music, and that's why it feels like they're coming out of nowhere.
